Privacy
At Plotore we are committed to ensuring your privacy is protected. This privacy policy sets out how we use and protect any information that you provide us when you use the site.
The short version
We collect what we need to run the service and verify who wrote what — plus basic usage data, like roughly where people are visiting from, so we can see what is working and improve it.
- We don't sell your information.
- We don't share it with advertisers, ad networks or third-party analytics companies. The usage data we look at is our own.
- We don't run advertising or tracking cookies. One cookie keeps you signed in. That's it.
- Your script is not a product we resell. It is shown to verified studios in order to represent it, and to nobody else.
If what we collect or how we use it changes, we will amend this notice and tell you.
This notice is issued by [Plotore Ltd], the data controller. If you have questions or comments regarding this privacy policy, contact us or email hello@plotore.com.
01What we collect
| Who | What |
|---|---|
| Account | Name, email, country, pen name. |
| Writers | Your script, its file hash, your draft history link, your answers to the seven rights questions, and your signatures. |
| Collaborators | Name and email, given to us by the writer, solely to obtain a release. |
| Studios | Name, organisation, role, and a record of every script access. |
| Enquiries | Name, email and message, when you contact us through the site or by email — used only to reply to you, and kept for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry. |
| Technical | Browser and device information, the approximate location your visit came from, and timestamps. |
02Why
To operate the service, to verify authorship and title, to represent scripts to studios, to produce the chain-of-title file a buyer relies on, to answer enquiries you send us, to understand how the site is being used so we can improve it, and to keep an audit trail that we may need to defend a claim.
Our lawful bases are contract and legitimate interests; for the audit trail, legal obligation and legitimate interests.
03Who sees what
- Studios never see your real name until you or they express interest in a deal and you consent.
- Studios never see your contact details until a deal is signed and consent is granted.
- Collaborators see only the script title and the writer's name.
- Access logs are visible to us and, for their own staff, to the studio, on a need-to-know basis.
04Sharing
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers, ad networks or third-party analytics companies.
The only parties who ever see it are:
- our hosting and database provider, our email provider, and our contact-form provider (Formspree, which processes messages sent through the form on this site) — each acting on our instructions and unable to use your data for their own purposes;
- on a completed deal, the buyer and their legal and insurance advisers, on a need-to-know basis.
Data may be processed outside the UK; where it is, appropriate safeguards apply.
05Keeping it
Account and script data are maintained while your account is open, then deleted within 12 months.
Signatures, declarations and access logs are kept for 7 years, because they are the evidence behind a chain of title, where a claim can arrive long after a deal.
06Your rights
Access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, as aligned with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.
Erasure does not extend to signed declarations or access logs where we need them to establish or defend a legal claim.
To exercise any of these, email hello@plotore.com.
07Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first — email hello@plotore.com or use the contact form.
We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and respond without undue delay.
You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at any time.
08Cookies
We use a cookie to keep you signed in. No advertising cookies, and no third-party tracking.
The usage data described in section 1 is our own, first-party statistical data, used only to see how the site is performing and improve it. It is not passed to an advertising network or an external analytics company.
09Changes
We will amend this notice if what we collect, or how we need to use it, changes — and we will notify you.
